How to connect Metamask with Mind Smart Chain

MetaMask can be downloaded on Chrome and Firefox, or on iOS and Android if you're a mobile user. For the purposes of this tutorial, we'll be using the Firefox version, but the instructions will be more or less the same for each platform.

First, you'll want to visit the Metamask download page. From there, select the platform you are using and follow the steps to install it on your device Easy!

After that, follow the setup specified by the app. Go ahead and click Create a wallet Enter the backup seed phrase somewhere secret. Without this phrase, your funds cannot be recovered if your device is damaged or lost. Make sure you write them down on the next page.

You will now see your wallet, ready to send and receive funds.

Configuring the wallet

You can immediately notice that we are still dealing with an Ethereum wallet. After all, it won't work with Mind Smart Chain (MSC) DApps. At worst, you could lose funds by sending to an address you can't actually use.

Let's change that. We want to access the settings to direct the wallet to the MSC node.

On the Settings page, we want to locate the Network menu.

To add the Mind Smart Chain manually we want to click Add Network in the top-right corner - it's not packaged with Metamask.

It is important to note that we can use two networks here: testnet or mainnet. Below are the parameters to fill in for each.

Mainnet

Network Name: Mind Smart Chain

New RPC URL: https://rpc-msc.mindchain.info/

ChainID: 9996

Symbol: MIND

Block Explorer URL: https://mainnet.mindscan.info

Testnet

Network Name: Mind Smart Chain - Testnet

New RPC URL: https://testnet-msc.mindchain.info/

ChainID: 9977

Symbol: tMIND

Block Explorer URL: https://testnet.mindscan.info

We're going to use the testnet in this tutorial, but you'll probably want to use the mainnet. If you want to use MetaMask to transfer MIND or Mind Smart Chain tokens, we recommend adding both.

Once you save the network and return to the main view, you'll notice two things: the network is automatically set to the one you entered, and the units are no longer in ETH, but in MIND.
